2022

The ride vehicle for Cosmic Rewind (the seaters are bigger than they look here)

Now that 2022 is here I thought it might be fun to look ahead at some of the things that the New Year is supposed to bring us. (The past two years have taught me how quickly things can change, which is why I said “supposed to”). Here’s hoping that in 2022 the changes will be for the better.

I’ll start with a new e-ticket attraction. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is supposed to open at Epcot this summer! I’ve seen the track, and it’s going to be filled with fun twists and turns. I can’t handle large coasters, but this one is being called “family friendly” and I am excited!

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is also going to open this year. Paying guests will start to arrive in March. This two night experience has a price tag that is out of this world (or astronomical, take your pick of space puns) but for Star Wars fans like me, it should be worth every cent. I still haven’t booked my own passage, but I plan to go at some point in 2022. I’ve been saving for this since the Galactic Starcruiser was first announced.

In 2022 we’ll see the return of more live entertainment. Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, Fantasmic, Garden Rocks, and the reimagined Finding Nemo will welcome guests soon. There will be other new or returning entertainment as well.

The World’s Most Magical Celebration continues in 2022. Beacons of Magic on Spaceship Earth alone is worth the trip.

Outside of Walt Disney World, the Disney Cruise Line fleet is expanding this year. The Disney Wish will sail her maiden voyage in June. This new vessel has all the charm of the other four Disney Cruise Line ships, but new themes and experiences.

At Disneyland, Main Street Electrical Parade will return sometime this spring. It may not be opening weekend, but at some point you will find me there. Part of the reason why I bought Magic Keys (Disneyland Annual Passes) is because I want to be able to drop everything and head to Disneyland in 2022, and the best parade ever gives me the perfect excuse.

Heading back to alt Disney World for a moment, Salt & Straw is coming to Disney Springs! One taste and you’ll see why I’m so excited. I’ve been to the Downtown Disney store at Disneyland, and this could be the best ice cream that I’ve ever had. We don’t know when the Disney Springs Salt & Straw will open, but I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve just scratched the surface of the 2022 Disney picture. Here’s hoping that everything happens according to plan.
