Modifying a Disney Park Pass Reservation

Share
Did you pick the wrong park?

One thing that was frustrating since Disney started using the Disney Park Pass Reservation system is that there was no ability to modify a reservation. If you wanted to change your park for a day, you needed to cancel and hope that you would be able to get a reservation for the new park. That has changed, it is now possible to modify your Disney Park Pass Reservation! It isn’t easy to find, so I thought that I would walk you through the steps. I’m doing this as an Annual Passholder, but I assume that it’s the same for regular tickets.

Right now, it isn’t possible to modify through the My Disney Experience App. I hope that will change in the near future. You can do it on your phone, but you’ll have to use the phone’s browser. I recommend using a private browser both for phone and desktop, the Walt Disney World website has fewer errors in private.

The first thing that you need to do is to sign in to your My Disney Experience Account. Don’t be alarmed if you get an email about a new sign-in, that’s the new norm. Once you’re on your account, go to My Plans. Scroll down and find the reservation that you want to modify. Hit View Details. More than one date might appear on the next page so make sure you pick the right one. You’ll then see two choices; Modify Reservation and Cancel Reservation.

It’s easy to modify, once you can find where

When you click Modify the next page will ask you who you want to modify for. Don’t worry if you made a mistake, no changes have been made. Check the person or people, and then continue. The next page is a calendar, choose the date that you want. That will then open the option to pick a park. You won’t be able to choose a park with no availability. Make your selection, then hit Continue. Review everything on the next page, and pick Continue again. You should then be all set!

This is also where you will need to go to cancel a reservation. The steps are the same, just choose Cancel instead of Modify. Remember to always cancel a reservation that you aren’t going to use. The parks are about to get busy once again.

The system isn’t infallible, and it can be glitchy. Things were easier to understand before Disney rolled out the new Annual Passholder Program and changed everything. Still, this is a step in the right direction. It never made sense to me that we couldn’t modify without risking losing the day. I’m happy that it’s finally an option.

Update: If your Disney Park Pass Reservation is connected to a Disney Resort hotel, you need to cancel and rebook. Modifying isn’t an option at this time.
