Yesterday I heard some good news about the return of Festival of the Lion King, but I didn’t want to post anything here until I knew the official source. It turns out that the source is none other than Jeff Vahle, who is the President of Walt Disney World Resort. He let us know that the show will be back in the middle of May!

The information was released on Instagram. Vahle added two pictures and a video. His caption was:

Our cast is back in rehearsals for “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King,” preparing for the show’s mid-May debut as entertainment continues to return across Walt Disney World. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Vice President Sarah Riles and I stopped in to welcome them recently, and hearing that wonderful, familiar music put a lump in my throat. Thrilled to have these talented Cast Members back on our stage!

Information has not been updated on the Walt Disney World website. I kind of doubt that it will be until an official reopening date is released. Festival of the Lion King is still listed on the My Disney Experience App as “reopening summer 2021”. My first thought was Memorial Day Weekend, but Memorial Day isn’t until May 31 this year, so that’s not mid-May. As soon as I hear an official date, I’ll let you know.
