Sunday Savings Series: Holds on Your Account

Share
Don’t end up with an unexpected surprise if you stay on property!

This isn’t a savings tip as much as it is a warning for those who are visiting Walt Disney World on a tight budget. If you are staying on property, you will need to link a credit or debit card to your My Disney Experience account. The day that you arrive, a $100 hold will be placed on your account. The hold will be released when you check out if you didn’t need it. Remember, there is a parking fee, unless you are staying through DVC or at the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

Also, paying with your MagicBand in the stores is convenient, but keep an eye on your account. I have never used this service myself, but I’ve heard that a $100 hold will be placed on your account per transaction if you use your MagicBand. Again, the hold will be removed once the item has cleared, but this is something that you need to keep in mind. It would be frustrating to go over your limit because you purchased a couple of cheap souvenirs in different stores.

Money is tight for everyone these days, and many of us are keeping a closer eye on our accounts than ever before. Still, many of us (myself included) continue to keep Walt Disney World within our budgets. I just don’t want you to end up with a mess that could have been avoided.
