A New Screening System Is Being Tested

Just walk through

Not all that long ago I wondered what the future of bag check might be once the parks reopen. Well, it looks like we might have an answer! Disney is testing a touchless system called Evolv. On Saturday the test started in the Lime Garage at Disney Springs. Yesterday I went to check it out.

Evolv is similar to the scanners that you walk through when exiting most stores. All that you do is walk forward. If there is an issue, the system will alert the Security team, and the person will be directed to the side. That is where they have a traditional bag check table set.

I spoke briefly yesterday with a Cast Member. She told me that so far, the test has been going smoothly. She also encouraged me to share the video below. When I was there, it really was as easy as it seems.

I’ve heard that there is the possibility of adding temperature screening to the system, but don’t quote me on that because it wasn’t from an official source. Even if it’s possible, I don’t know if Disney would immediately add it. From what I saw, Evolv could help to alleviate the long lines at bag check. It could also make sure that bag check would be mostly touchless. Most importantly, it could help to keep us safe. I hope that it works, because in theory it is a great idea.

The video is short, and it is very informative. You’ll then be able to picture how it might work at Walt Disney World.
