Rise of the Resistance: The Virtual Queue

Share
I am ready to ride!

Pandora – The World of Avatar opened in 2017. Two and a half years later, the lines for Flight of Passage are still long, no matter what time of day or year you visit. The ride is that amazing. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it is an amazing ride as well. The good news is that Disney has come up with a way that you can have a fun day in the park, without having to wait in line for hours. Rise of the Resistance has a Virtual Queue.

You’ll see this when you first open the app

The Virtual Queue is easy to use. First, make sure that you have the latest version of the My Disney Experience App because the Virtual Queue might not show up on older versions. Then, all that you have to do is to head to the park and scan your MagicBand or ticket. Once you’re inside, open the app, and there should be information about the ride on your screen. Touch “Find Out More”.

You’ll join here, plus you’ll have a general idea of how long until your group can board

That will take you to a different page. This will give you an estimation of when the next available group will be allowed to board. Touch “Join Boarding Group”, and if there are any spots open you will receive a place in line. You will be given a Boarding Group Number. You are then free to do something else, you can even leave the park if you would like.

Make sure notifications are on!

Once your boarding group has access, you will receive a notification. (Make sure that you have the app set on your phone to receive notifications.) You can check throughout the day to see what numbers are currently boarding, so you will have a good idea of how far along the process is.

In case you forget your group number

Don’t worry about gulping down your ice cream or leaving the line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster if you receive the notification that it’s your time. You have a two hour window in which to ride, so you do not need to hurry back to Galaxy’s Edge.

If there are no spots left, keep checking back. It probably won’t happen, but who knows?

If you don’t have the My Disney Experience App, don’t worry. There are Cast Members on hand who will be able to get you into a boarding group. You do not need to miss out.

If your plans change, please give up your spot so that someone else will have a chance to ride

There are a few things that you need to keep in mind. First, as I already mentioned, you and your whole party need to be in the park in order to join a boarding group. At this time you are not able to add people to your party if they arrive later. Second, your entire party needs to arrive at the ride’s entrance together in order to board. Third, there is a limited number of boarding groups and riders each day, so at least for now you should plan to arrive at the park early. Availability can and will run out.

This is the notification that you’ll receive

There is one final thing that I want you to remember. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a brand new attraction. New rides tend to break down fairly often, since the kinks need to be worked out. If the ride does break down, please be kind to the Cast Members. They are just as frustrated as you are, but they’re frustrated with smiles on their faces.
