Remy’s Ratatouille Hide ‘n’ Squeak Scavenger Hunt, 2019 Edition

Remy and I are in a better place with each other than we were at this time last year…

Last year I told you about my attempt at Remy’s Ratatouille Hide ‘n’ Squeak Scavenger Hunt. The scavenger hunts are pretty popular at Epcot. They are a great way for the kids to explore World Showcase, without realizing that they might learn something about another culture. That said, the scavenger hunts are not just for children, they are fun for all ages.

With Remy’s Ratatouille Hide ‘n’ Squeak Scavenger Hunt, you will purchase a package with a map and some stickers. You will then look for Remy at the various locations on the map. When you see him, peel off the corresponding sticker and place it on the map. Once you’ve found all of the Remy figures, you can take your map and redeem it for a prize. This year you can take your pick of one of four travel mugs.

I was not 100% successful last year, I never found the final Remy. The prize last year was a pin, and since I was still missing one Remy I never turned my map in. (Okay, I forgot to bring the map with me the last time I went, but that’s beside the point.) I was determined to be more successful this year.

If you decide to try Remy’s Ratatouille Hide ‘n’ Squeak Scavenger Hunt, don’t be afraid to ask for help. I found that Cast Members love to play along. Instead of telling me where Remy was hiding, they would give me hints. Sometimes those hints were just as confusing as the rest of the game, but they made it more fun.

You can also ask for help from other people walking around with the maps in their hands. I talked to a lot of nice people who were also trying to finish their maps. It was amazing to me how many adults without children were working on it! I never came out and asked someone where Remy was, but we would give each other hints. We would say things such as “look up to the left when you pass the first building”.

I was able to finish my map this year, and all in a couple of hours. That was a weird sense of accomplishment! I turned in my map and exchanged it for the Figment mug. What was a little bit disappointing is that the Cast Member didn’t even check to see if I had started the map, let alone finished it. You don’t have to finish the map for your prize, but it would have been nice if she had pretended to check. I was able to keep my map, she stamped it on the back to show that I had received my prize.

One word of warning about Remy’s Ratatouille Hide ‘n’ Squeak Scavenger Hunt. A couple of the Remy figures were pretty hard to find. Two of them had been moved inside because of the weather, which really messed me up when I first started. I don’t know if they have all been moved back outside since. As I said, if you’re stuck, ask a Cast Member for a hint. Don’t just turn in the map without looking for Remy, there’s no fun in that.
